INTRODUCTION
Darren is the Head of the Family Department and a Partner at Dunn & Baker Solicitors and has specialised in Family and Matrimonial matters since his qualification as a solicitor.
TRAINING
Darren completed a degree in History at the University of Lancaster in 1994, going on to complete a Law degree conversion course in 1995 at the University of Lancashire, followed by the Legal Practice Course at the University of Exeter in 1996. Darren completed his training contract with a law firm in Bude, Cornwall from 1996 to 2000 when he then moved to the West Country to work for a local law firm. In 2005, Darren joined Dunn & Baker Solicitors.
Darren is also an Accredited Resolution Specialist, a Collaborative Lawyer and is a Family Law Panel Accredited Solicitor (formerly the Children Law Panel).
SPECIALISMS
Darren specialises in all aspects of Family Law with a particular focus on divorce, separation and financial arrangements. During his extensive career, Darren has assisted many clients with complex circumstances and is adverse in resolving matters both inside and outside of Court.
Darren regularly handles high-value financial cases which involve aspects such as inherited wealth, foreign elements and emergency freezing of assets to avoid prejudice to clients if needed. He is well-versed in representing his clients at final hearings to a high standard, achieving favourable outcomes.
He has been a Resolution trained Collaborative Lawyer for many years and has also completed Mediation training. In light of this, he is able to extend his skills and deliver assistance to couples in what can be a very tangled, difficult and emotionally challenging situation.
As a Resolution Accredited Specialist, Darren is committed to maintaining a high level of expertise in all aspects of divorce and separation. He is particularly skilled at dealing with cases involving domestic abuse and cohabitation, assisted greatly by this qualification.
Darren’s Family Law Panel Accreditation (formerly Children Law Panel) reflects his experience and knowledge of children law which he utilises when representing clients with anything from care proceedings (involving the Local Authority) to complex cases involving foreign jurisdiction issues and child abduction circumstances.

With a background utilising the Collaborative Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution processes, and adopting the approach that court is a ‘last resort’, Darren brings with him an added dimension and depth to the service he provides his clients.
