Mark Hammerton
SOLICITOR / HEAD OF PERSONAL INJURY & MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE DEPARTMENT
Introduction
Mark qualified as a solicitor in 1993 and is responsible for the firm’s Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence department. He has always specialised in this area of law and has over 30 years experience.
Training and Experience
Mark obtained his LLP degree in Law at Anglia University before passing the Law Society Finals examinations at The College of Law in Chester in the latter part of 1993. He started his legal career in Exeter, before moving to work for a national law firm and working on large loss and catastrophic claims (many valued in excess of £1 million). He has now returned to his roots and is very much enjoying being back in Exeter with Dunn & Baker.
Specialisms
Mark specialises in all areas of personal injury and clinical negligence litigation, with particular experience of handling fatal and large loss/catastrophic claims involving road accidents and accidents at work. He also has considerable experience of handling occupiers liability claims and also claims against Local Authorities and Public Bodies (such as the Police and schools). He deals with claims at all levels of severity – from the minor right up to the most serious – and approaches each claim with the same level of care and professionalism.
On the clinical negligence side, Mark deals with a wide range of cases involving hospitals, GP surgeries, dentists and therapists.
He has previously been recommended in the Legal 500 for his “…ability to go that extra mile.”
He is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and a supporter of the Headway charity.
Approach
Mark understands that serious injury affects every aspect of a person’s life, as well as those closest too them. Accordingly, he believes in building a relationship with each client based on trust and co-operation, taking the time to understand each client’s individual circumstances so as to achieve the best possible result for them.
